You read that right! Now you can use Siri to control the lights in your home.
Specific commands like “Siri, dim the table lamp to 50%” on your iPhone (with the newly-released iOS 9 software) can now work, with the help of Apple’s growing HomeKit system and Philips Hue lighting, which was launched three years ago. News reveals the latter will soon work with other HomeKit products, such as front door locks, thermostats and garage door openers.
Just imagine having your very own living room lighting automatically adjust to how you like them after coming home from work, instantly after you unlock your front door—a la “Back to the Future II.”
To be able to enjoy these futuristic features, you’ll need the new square-shaped Philips Hue Bridge 2.0, which will be launched tomorrow (Tuesday) in the U.S. and Europe. Don’t worry, your existing Philips Hue bulbs and lamps will work with the new Bridge.
Philips Hue bulbs’ pricing has come down to $15, from the original price of $30, and it definitely lasts longer than other options. There’s no smarter choice, if you ask us!
