For aspiring secret agents, this could almost be a dream come true.
According to the Samsung-focused blog SamMobile, Samsung has finally been granted a patent by the South Korean copyright authority for their development of “smart contact lenses” with a display that projects images directly into the user’s eye, take photographs and connect wirelessly to a smartphone.
Believe it or not, there are also embedded antennas that can beam content to the smartphone for processing.
Samsung’s development of the lenses aims to create a better augmented reality–better than the failed Google Glass. Although, like Google Glass, Samsung’s patented device can also discreetly take photographs by blinking.
With the patent, no one is sure whether or not Samsung will actually end up releasing smart contacts for the public. We’ll have to wait and see.
