The billion user app continues to feature upgrades that both make it even more user friendly, interactive and elegant.
Ever since its launch in 2010, millions of Instagram users have wished that they can use this two-finger pinch feature, especially after practically applying it on every touchscreen surface since Steve Jobs invented it for the iPhone in 2007. Now we can zoom in on detailed photos or faces!
According to its makers, it’s also only the beginning.
“Over the past six months, you’ve seen many exciting changes come to Instagram, from a new icon to longer videos and even a new way to share everyday moments with Instagram Stories,” the company wrote in a statement on Instagram. “And as things change, we’re still focused on improving the core parts of Instagram.”
Starting today, you can pinch to zoom on photos and videos in feed, on profiles and on Explore. Dive into an adorable puppy’s smile or into every detail of your friend’s new shirt. Over the past six months, you’ve seen many exciting changes come to Instagram, from a new icon to longer videos and even a new way to share everyday moments with Instagram Stories. And as things change, we’re still focused on improving the core parts of Instagram. Zoom is available today for Instagram on iOS. Zoom will be available on Android in the coming weeks.
So yes, prepare to be able to zoom on photos and videos in your feed, other people’s profiles and in the Explore section. Be warned, however, that it’s closely similar to the double tap to like the photo so you could be risking liking your ex’s photo when you’re simply hoping to see their face a little clearer.
The feature is available just on iOS for now but will soon be on Android.
